Southwest Montana Spring Skwala Trip

BryanG, Myself, Paul from William Joseph, and a couple others took a spring trip up to SWMT about a month or so ago … If you want the full report Cam posted trip report a little while back over on The Fiberglass Manifesto. Suffice it to say … We had a awesome time. There was some decent top water action on the first day and some good streamer action the remainder of the trip! We stayed with The Four Rivers fishing Company in Twin Bridges Montana… Who hooked-us-up with some great accommodations and a second boat.

We had some good dry fly action the first day and some weather dictated streamer action on days 2 and 3!

I usually pack a lomo fisheye around with me and snap off a couple shots here and there over the course of a few months. A mechanic found an OLD unused roll of film under the seat of our car when doing some repairs. So, I figured I’l load it into the lomo … This is the result.

Fall in SWMT

Cold and snow + more warm weather added some color to the water and the fishing was so-so, but that’s how it goes. Still managed to capture some nice shots and stick a couple fish.

We stayed in the room above the Four Rivers Fishing Company Shop in Twin Bridges and did two really kick ass float trips with them.

Spent a few days hitting some water with friends and family in SW MT.

YNP … The temps were nice and the skies were blue

Dillon … My dad out fished me the whole trip and the were still eating a few hoppers.

The Big Hole was still green … Where are those fall colors!

Getting one of these little f@#4ers has been on my mind for a couple years now .. I read, I checked the maps, I talked to fishing friends, and finally found the time to go explore. This has been a fantastic journey to date and I still have two more lakes to hit next year.

Earier in the year my first lake didn’t get me the fish I was looking for… On the hike out I talked to another angler and he said that he had only gotten one Golden in the five trips he made to the lake. As it happens,a online friend was going to be in the area and mentioned a lake that he knew held Goldens. When he offered to take me … I jumped at the opportunity.
